This Heat is No Joke & Unhelpful Strangers
Today I returned home from Washington DC where I travelled for work. Yesterday morning, I had a little free time, so I decided to walk around the Mall.
As the morning went on, the sun started to peek out, and the weather got steamier. At some point I started to sweat heavily, so I left the Mall, and figured I'd head into town and look for an air conditioned place to sit. By the time I made it to the streets, I felt like I was going to pass out.
So this woman comes up to me and asks how to get to such and such place. My head was down in my hands at this point, and I said I didn't know. She asked to see my map (which was sticking out of my bag), so I gave it to her. She laughed and said she never could figure out maps and could I look for her, so at this point I told her I felt like I was going to pass out and couldn't help her. So she laughs about the heat, and starts blabbing about God knows what. I took the map back and decided to ignore her. After this, she got pissy and said, "Well if you're not going to help me, I'll have to wander around some more".
I couldn't believe she didn't ask if I was okay or needed any help! I do look pregnant now, but even if she didn't notice, anyone saying they feel like passing out should elicit some concern, no? Anyway, I felt better in a few minutes and found water and air conditioning.
Dumb woman. This was really something.
