Professional Networking?
I have tried this once before but figured we have lots of new members so here goes....
Since there are so many smart cookies on here I thought it might be fun to share what we do and if we are looking for clients, leads or contacts(job search, etc.) we can post on this thread.
I'll go first:
I am in Higher Education Sales. I sell a student/audience response system. It is a way to gain live feedback from participants. Simply explained it is similar to the voting method used in Americas Funniest Home Videos with live feedback in the form of graphs shown in a live PowerPoint presentation. I work all of lower NY and Southern CT. My clients are college and university admin, professors and Instructional Technology people.

Re: Professional Networking?
I'll go...
I'm NYS Licensed Massage Therapist. I own a mobile spa (don't know if I can post our website but if you're interested FM me).
We provide services for bachelorette parties, sweet 16's, VIP & corporate events. Our mobile spa girls will also pamper celebs in their dressing rooms, concert halls, backstage at events, etc... We have recently worked with "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and MTV, and are now trying to gear our business more towards the Corporate & VIP end, so I'd love to talk to some people involved in PR/publicity, etc.. to really get our name "out there" a bit more. Here's a little blurb about us: "All the luxury, relaxation, and indulgence found at a typical day spa can now be brought to your home, hotel suite, office, V.I.P. or special event. HoSPAtality brings the spa to you! Luxurious linens, cozy massage tables, lotions, candles, soothing music, and aromatherapy are all brought to your doorstep. Lavish treatments are performed by licensed professionals who are passionate about what they do and strive for perfection, which means making you look and feel your very best."

Bump for those that want to participate
I also wanted to let everyone know that The LI Center for Business and Professional Women is a pretty good networking group. I used to belong with my old job and think I will join again.

Re: Professional Networking?
Sounds like a good idea.
I am a marketing director for a test preparation company. I speciailize in graduate-level and medical licensing exams, but also am very comfortable speaking about the precollege level exams. I would be happy to answer any questions anyone has about graduate school or the medical licensing process. As part of my job, I also present free seminars on admissions and testing for groups of students/parents.

Re: Professional Networking?
I work in Human Resources in central NJ.
I have about 6 years of HR experience, generalist based. Looking for a medim to large sized company THAT I CAN SETTLE DOWN WITH! (Sounds like a personal ad, but you know, it really is a personal relationship ).
If anyone has any leads for me let me know.
On the flip side, I also enjoy helping others find positions and I can help with resume editing, etc.

I am an attorney in a NYC office of an international law firm. I specialize in aviation litigation. Most of my firm's clients are foreign airlines, as well as major insurance companies. I am very happy with my firm and if anyone is interested in this area of law or has questions about the profession in general, I will be happy to answer them Of course, I am also always looking to network for clients

Re: Professional Networking?
I'm an accountant for a CPA firm in babylon and we aim to serve small businesses on Long Island and their owners. We preform compiliatons, reviews and audits of financial statements. We prepare tax returns (individual, corporate, sales, payroll, etc) for our clients. We also do some hand holding when it comes to setting up new accounting software like Quickbooks, Masterbuilder, Timberline, etc. We also do estate planning but I'm not directly involved in that.
I however, am leaving to have a baby and am toying with the option of doing consulting work from home, like looking to help small business owners with these accounting needs - part time for a much cheaper fee.

Re: Professional Networking?
What a wonderful idea!!!!
I am a NY Licensed Massage Therapist located in Hicksville.
I work with all kind of population. I mostly offer Swedish, Amma and sport massages or just relaxation if this is what a client wants. Although I work out of my house in a room just set up for massage, I also make house calls and corporate chair massage going to businesses promoting massage at work.
Aside from working with adults, I also teach infant massage to parents/moms/caregivers and how to massage their little one, promoting the natural benefits of massage (colic, bonding, fun time, etc).
I offer gift certificates, packages, etc..
