Freddy update
just some quick news:
Freddy is no longer an insulin dependant diabetic. He has not had insulin for a week now and it looks like he may escape this altogether. Keep your fingers crossed.
His short term memory is bad. We visit him and he doesn't remember. UGH...
Bought him a cell phone and he calls us. This is good for initiating. It helps him control things and take responsibility for his own recovery.
He may be transferred soon and I really hope for North Shore for it's location and it's TBI program.
that's all for now. Still looking for a job for dad and a place for them to live.

Re: Freddy update
Great news on him not having to use insulin anymore! Just take one day at a time. I know it can be frustrating when a loved one can't remember things. You have done an excellent job with your bro and I am sure that's something he doesn't forget!

Good news! As for the short term memory. That will take time. 2 yrs later and DH is finally getting his back. Everyday gets better.

Sissy, how bad was it when he first came home. Did he not remember what he ate for breakfast, if you had a conversation? He seems to have his short term memory hit the hardest.
My dad tried to call him on his new cell and he didn't answer, but when he called on the regular phone he answered. He said he didn't remember how to use it. It's around his neck in a pouch. He probably got confused.
thanks for the info.
