I think I'm depressed
I feel terrible, morning sickness has kicked in, I"m exhausted, I feel huge and I'm only 9 1/2 weeks--I feel like I"m six months, constipated and bloated. I have no energy at all. I think I'm really getting depressed. All I do is work and sleep. DH is trying to say all tlhe rightthings but please someone tell me I will feel better. I'm seeing the doctor late next week but right now, I"m just really down because I feel so horrible. I try to keep focused on the outcome here but it just feels like its is going to be a LONG time until I meet this peanut!!Did anyone else feel like this at the beginnig, it feels liek their is no way to make myself feel better, I feel terrible all day, I sleep, I'm uncomfortable and wake up al lnight, its horrible. Then I feel bad about how I feel....thanks for letting me vent....

Re: I think I'm depressed
Aww, you're not depressed, you're PREGNANT! I know, it's not a laughing matter, and I know exactly how you feel, but this too, shall pass. Your body is working way overtime to bake that little baby inside you, and it's like running a marathon everyday without doing a damn thing. You will definitely get more energy back in the second trimester. As for the morning sickness, I found that my prenatals were making me sick, so I switched to a Flinstone vitamin and voila, my morning sickness went away. Hang in there. Keep talking to your DH and the girls here so that you can get it all out. Stay hydrated, too. That really helps. Hang in there

Re: I think I'm depressed
first, many to you. i know it sounds cliche but it will all be ok...the first trimester can be very tough with the hormones and changes and morning sickness. usually (and hopefully) by 12-14 weeks or the 2nd trimester you start feeling a 100x better. i know that's how it was for me anyway. i felt GREAT during my 2nd trimester and even the third until like now at 39 weeks when i truly feel DONE. i know it's very hard to believe but but pregnancy goes VERY FAST! i am in shock that it's almost over for me! i've been PG since october and it went by in a blink. if you are still feeling like this in a couple of weeks definitely talk to you dr. though. i really hope you start feeling better soon. i think you will pull through just fine and remember what a wonderful reward you get in the end ! it will all be worth it!
**edited to add i totally agree with the above poster! my prenatals were the culprit in my early morning sickness! once i found a new brand all was well!

Re: I think I'm depressed
I could have written this post myself. I am 10 weeks and the indigestion, fatigue, constipation, and heartburn are killing me. I feel like I am thinking about food and my stomach all day. Plus I have zero energy to do anything.
I am hopeful things will get better and am holding out for it. If you need to talk...jsut FM me.
Good luck. Hopefully the second trimester will be better.

Re: I think I'm depressed
thanks for all your words of encouragement. it's just tough because everyone expects you to be so happy and honestly, I"m not....I"m miserble right now and no one ever seems to mention that....I think I"m going to talk to the doctor next week and maybe switching vitamins will help, that's a good idea....I jsut want to feel even remotely like myself and I don't at all....it's very hard....thanks again for listening...

Re: I think I'm depressed
oh you poor thing i am so sorry you feel so yuckyy. but i thin k we all go through that at one time or another in our pg's. just try to get as much rest as possible, try taking your prenatals at night after dinner instead of the am and drink lost of fluid to counter act the constipation.( you can ask you dr about a stool softner mine ok's one for me) it is a long journey but very well worth it in the end!

I just want to add that you should get used to tossing people's expectations of you out the window. When I first had my daughter, I was miserable. I had horrible post partum depression, to the point of not wanting to live anymore, and people were expecting me to be so happy to have a new baby, when I wanted to die on the inside. That being said, once I just came clean and told everyone how horrible I felt, I got the support I needed and people stopped placing all those expectations on me. So, whatever you do, just keep talking about how you feel and be honest. Don't subscribe to what others think you should be feeling. Being pregnant can be pretty freaking crappy, and no one should have to pretend it's not! Feel free to FM me if you ever need to talk!

Re: I think I'm depressed
Aw, I felt the exact same way when I was where you are. Physically just chubby, uncomfortable and mentally I was having a hard time too, thinking "how am I going to get through this, how am I going to handle just watching my body change like this??"... I was soo constipated (still am, but found things to help it) but it does get MUCH better, trust me. My belly is big now and I never even think anymore about how i'm going to do it! Once I hit 14 weeks, 15 weeks, 16 weeks, and the belly started to get noticeable and I felt great, its all been smooth sailing (except for some scary episodes of bleeding but thats besides the point!) The 2nd trimester is exciting, you'll probably feel great, people will start to notice and you will get so much attention! I bet you won't really be depressed anymore. Just hang in there!
I have my days of moodiness but it is so much better than the 1st tri. Trust me it gets better !!!

Re: I think I'm depressed
Your homones could cause depression. You're already one step ahead by being self-aware. Get outside and maintain some level of activity, as well as keep the lines open with your doc. You'll be ok and then better then ok!

Re: I think I'm depressed
It's okay to feel the way you do. It's completely normal. Our bodies and minds go through so much. I never though my morning sickness would leave but at 16 weeks, it finally did, and that boosts your emotional status immensely, don't worry! The feeling big part, well, you're going to get bigger so that will take some adjusting. Hang in there and we're always here to listen to you vent!

Re: I think I'm depressed
Definitely talk to your doctor about this, but it's probably your hormones. Plus, the first trimester is VERY unrewarding. You get bigger, but you don't look pregnant yet. You're sick and tired all the time, etc. I don't know about you, but I told very few people at 9 wks., so I felt lousy, but no one knew I was pregnant.
Hopefully, you will feel less sick and tired in a few weeks when you get closer to the second trimester. If hormones are the problem, you may adjust to those over time also.
I do find I get weepy and discouraged much more easily now than before I was pregnant, but it does pass quickly.
Hope you feel better soon.

Re: I think I'm depressed
you are NOT alone! when i was in my first trimester my sister told me that i had "pre-partum depression" honestly, i had never been so miserable in my life. i was nauseous or vomiting ALL the time, i couldn't eat anything without getting sick, i couldn't sleep, i couldn't poop, and i was out of work for 5 weeks because of it. one time i even had a dream that my DH told me that i wasn't really pregnant, i was actually dying that should give you a clue about what my state of mind was at that point!
i had never been depressed before, and i haven't been since. once i hit about 12 weeks it all started to slowly fade away. looking back, i think it was a combination of the hormones and the drastic life change i was undergoing.
you WILL feel better!!! for the vast majority of people the sickness gets better, and so will your mood.

Re: I think I'm depressed
I feel the same way as you. I never realized how hard this was going to be. I keep asking why people do this mulitple times and they all say you forget it once you hit the second tri-mester. Let me tell you that I am counting the days for that 2nd tri-mester to come! I am 9 weeks pg also.
