MY BIRTH STORY

SO as many of you know, I woke up on Monday at 5:30 having contractions. They were pretty intense, and I felt them in my back alot(baby was posterior at first). SO I started timing them, and they were 4-5 minutes apart. I was instructed not to go to the hospital until they were 3-5 so I figured I would wait. I also had a doctors appointment that morning, so I figured I would send DH to work, wait for my appointment and see what the Dr. had to say. So I continued timing the contractions for the next 3 hours and they never got closer together but they never let up either. So at 9:00 I called my Dr and he said to come in and see him, so DH came home and off we went.

When we got to the Dr's office they saw me right away, and I was 90% effaced and dialated to 4 so he said go to the hospitalChat Icon The hospital is literally 2 minutes away, so we got there quick and checked in. Before they would officially admit me they wanted to monitor my contractions to make sure it was the real thing. They hooked me up and the monitor showed the contractions coming 4-5 minutes apart, so the nurse said they are still too far apart. I told her that I am positive I am in labor and asked if she could please check me. At this point the contractions were pretty hard, but I was able to breathe through them, and me and DH were still laughing and joking in between, and I was sucking on a lollipop, so I think the nurse thought I was full of crap. So she was very surprised that when she checked me i was dialated to 9Chat Icon They took me right to a delivery room.

I stayed at 9 for about 2 hours because my water hadn't broken. But because my water hadn't broken, the contractions were bearable and I was still joking with DH in between. At around 3:30 I told the hurse that I wanted the doctor to break my water, so she called him and he said he wouldn't. He wanted it to break on it's own. I said Um no, lets get this over with. SO the nurse "accidentaly" broke my water when she examined me. That put me right to 10, but as soon(and I mean the second) that my water broke I felt every second of the contractions, and boy did they hurt! I started pushing before the doctor was even there. Much to my surprise, I only pushed about 8 times before he literally shot out. When they say 2nd babies are a lot faster they aren't kidding!

They took him and warmed him and did all the good stuff. Connor James weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces and was 20 inches long. I got to hold him right away, but as I was holding him, DH and I noticed he started losing his color, so the NICU team took him. They examined him more, and decided his breathing was not right, so they put him on oxygen, and antibiotics, and he has to stay until Friday. He is doing well, completely off the oxygen and breathing on his own, but he still has to stay because he has to be on the antibiotics for 3 days. So I had to come home empty handed. Chat Icon I am so happy he is okay, and can't wait to bring him home on Friday morningChat Icon

So thats my birth story! Oh one quick thing for mommies to be of 2, if you are planning on breastfeeding or pumping, beware! The contractions and cramping hurt waaaaaaaaay worse the second time aroundChat Icon

Oh yeah, a couple pics are in my album, more to come though!

She hasn't seen him in person, but she watched the videotape we did of him, and she is in love. She keeps saying, "Mommy, Baby Con come home" It is the cutest thing!

Well I remember with my first, the first week or so of breastfeeding I had cramping and little contractions, which the nurse said is from a hormone that is released when the nipple is stimulated. This time around, the cramping and contractions are a lot stronger and they actually hurt alot, I am guessing it is since the muscles are more lax the second time around.
