Repost from LIW/guest review of Glen Sanders Mansion
Just in case someone is going to a wedding there or planning an upstate wedding or knows someone who is--- I highly recommend Glen Sanders Mansion...
Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia, NY was about 2 1/2 hours from my house in CT
We went to a friend's wedding yesterday- it was spectacular! 7 hour wedding- 7pm-2am- most people left at 1am- but the younger people stayed until 2am...
She had a horse and carriage which was a very romantic touch!
It was a Russian Wedding- as in they had many Russian traditions and food.
food- cocktail hour- I stuck with the seafood mostly- oysters on a half shell, sauteed clams, garlic mussels, shrimp cocktail. Dh loved the lamb chops!
On the tables when we entered the reception were MANY plates of various typical Russian foods- cavier (with the trimmings for it-including crepes) a mushroom salad, beet salad, breads, potatoes, lox and all of the trimmings
appetizer-eggplant and mozzerella with balsamic vinegar -YUM
Salad- Basic Salad- don't remember really because I didn't eat it
Dinner- no choices- Pork Chop with Scallops, OR vegetarian or Kosher I didn't eat mine because I was so full, but my BIL ate mine and his so it must have been good
Cake- VERY pretty- tasty- but I don't eat cake much...I saved myself for the Venetian Hour- YUMMY chocolate fountain and the best was the chocolate covered Rainbow cookies!
Service: Good, but some things could have been better... water was never refilled unless we asked....plates piled up a bit before they took them away...nothing too major though
bridal suite/honeymoon suite- (they asked Dh and I to come up with the bridal party) GORGEOUS! What a view! HUGE- canapy bed, jacuzzi, marble bathroom, living room wth flat screen tv- huge deck overlooking the lake! AMAZING!
Bride's Gown- GORGEOUS! It came in a foot too short- she had to have it custom made/fixed- you would never know! it was a gorgeous gown and she looked stunning!
After the reception they had a coffee and cookie station They offerred shuttles for the guests as well to certain hotels-
We stayed at the marriot near the albany airport-it was nice...clean...had everything we needed
Brunch this morning! No bacon or eggs, but they had more cavier, vodka, lox, blintzes, perogies, other typical items that I don't know what they were...SO good!
Band: Russian Band from Brooklyn- did a great job! BUT, not diverse in their repetoire. They did mostly Russian music-and everyone was dancing! Some spanish songs- which was fun for DH and I-to try out our Salsa and Merengue moves!
Photographer- I MUST find out who they were- I forgot to ask- they had a table set up with a slideshow of all the pics taken throughout the day-the bride is going to be VERY pleased- they did such a wonderful job! they were so creative!
I would recommend Glen Sanders Mansion-from what I saw, they did an excellent job! The place is lovely! We had a great time!
(I can't get the red eye off the bride- if someone can help that would be GREAT! TIA) Image Attachment(s):
