I was just wondering how many BTUs you would think we need. We want to install an AC unit in the wall of our den to cool our main level. We have a cape, bottom level is a large eat in kitchen, full bath, living room and dining room, and the extension on the side which is the den and our master bedroom. This is all open space with no doors at all except for bedrom and bathroom obviously.

I like to be cool but I dont want a huge unit that will freeze us out either. I am not worried about upstairs, we have AC units up there.

Our basement is cool all the time and we have a door that we can close so that we wont lose cool air downthere.
