Commencement Ceremonies.....
Did anyone feel like theirs was less about the graduates and more about the professors and people recieving honorary degrees?
My BIL graduated from BU yesterday and it kind of seemed like 3/4 of the ceremony was about people other than the ones graduating which I think it very wrong. I have never ever seen a school that did this.

DH had his Commencement Ceremony on Friday @ Stony Brook. We only went to the School of Social Welfare (he recieved his MSW) commencement, not he big university one. There were less people (about 120 in all) so the people who spoke were all social workers or involved in that type of field and they kept their speeches about the students I felt!! No honorary degrees were awarded, so it was nice!!

I know there was a big fire at that college where several students were killed and some injured very badly. Are these the others that you are talking about?
