Anyone have lojack?
Is it really that good to have? We're moving and we won't be parking in a driveway anymore and want to get a car alarm, but I hear lojack is better. But it isn't an alarm.
How much is it, how much monthly and does it save you money on your insurance?

Re: Anyone have lojack?
My husbands old boss had it. He handed his keys to what he thought was a valet. They stole the car and he couldnt find it. I cant remember the specifics but it took like months I think to get it back and his boss was pretty po'd and wanted money back since they have some kind of a warantee if your car isnt found in a certain amount of time. Lo Jack wouldnt give him any money back but sadi theyd give him a credit for lojack on the next car he buys. He was like im not having lojack in the next car i buy you guys s*ck

As far as the discount on the insurance it's isn't that much. It saves you as much as 25% off the Comprehensive part only.

Re: Anyone have lojack?
I have lojack on my car. When you're spending that much $$ on a new car it seems like a good investment. it's not an alarm, it's like a satelite device they hide in the car so if it gets stolen the police can track the car down. I'm not mistaken (this was 5 years ago when i boughtr my car so it may have changed) the lojack device cost about $400-500. There's no monthly fee. I think it also comes with some kind of insurance that if they don't recover your car you get a certain amount of $$ from them. I also added additional overage where something like if the car got stolen and they didn't recover it within 24 hours I'd automatically get $5000...something like that. I don't remember. It's given me a lot of peace of mind, but I don't think it's necessary. of course it depends on the car, some cars are hotter than others and some also have more anti theft features, like VWs to begin with (my car and FH's car) are hard to steal because they have computerized ignition keys, etc etc. We didn't get it on FH's car. We just didn't feel like spending the money

lojack is not a satellite system, it work kind of like a black box on a plane where it emits a signal if your car gets stolen you have to notify the police and they have a thing were they can tack it but they have to be within a certain area of the car like 5 blocks or something.
Anywho, my boss who had it said when is car got stolen the insurance company told him he since he had lojack he had to wait it was like two months before he got his car back, had to have it trailered everywhere, because when they found it they scratched out the vin numbers, and did alot of damage inside the car. He said if he didnt have lojack the insurance company would have paid him in 2weeks after the car was unfound, but because of lojack it was like 2months.
This was about 5yrs ago dont know how much if any it has changed
