Health Insurance Question
Does anyone have health insurance on their own and not from their or spouses employer? If so, who do you use?
My company provides insurance for me, but not for DH or DD. I wanted to see if their were any alternatives out there for finding a family plan on my own. My company will reimburse me what they would pay me if I was on their insurance.
Thanks.

Re: Health Insurance Question
If I remember correctly, your DH works for himself? If so, he should be able to write off health insurance premium as an above the line deduction in calculating AGI. That may be an avenue to explore.

DH is self employed. My new firm is considering lowering my salary to include the cost of his insurance. To include DD is just way too much. We have private insurance for her and its more reasonable than to add her to the family plan.
But we are also looking for a cheaper family plan so we won't have to lay out so much out of pocket.

Re: Health Insurance Question
We don't live in NY, but we are picking up our own policy starting July 1. I have been paying cobra benefits for the last 18 months since I was elegible from my previous employer.
Cobra was cheaper than what we are going to have to pay for our own policy It's very expensive...but at least it's a write-off!

Re: Health Insurance Question
my new company will pay for me in full at 20% for DH. They also offer a family plan for when I'm up to that. DH's job doesn't offer insurance so he'll have to come on board with me.
