Hae you personally changed your religion? If so, how did you find your new religion? Where did you go? How did you convert? How did your family react?

I haven't, but one of my mom's cousins did when she got married. She converted from Roman Catholic to Lutheran as it was very important to her DH that his children be raised Lutheran. She said that there really aren't that many differences between the 2 religions. The funny thing is that her grandmother had been raised Lutheran and converted to Roman Catholic when she married her grandfather.

I grew up in a catholic church. When I was a teen I went to a born again christian church. Then about 13 years ago when my daughter was 8 I started going to the Methodist church with my former fiance who has since passed away. I became a member there and my daughter was baptized there & made her confirmation there. My pastor also married DH & I at our hall.

DH was raised catholic & now goes to church with me EVERY week & in fact has joined the choir, although he has not 'officially' become a book member.

I grew up Catholic and became a born again Christian. I know that people feel that Christians are a little nutso, but that is not the case for most people who are Christian.

My Dad is protestant (Presbyterian) and Mom is Catholic so when I went to a non-denomiational Christian Church, they did not mind too much. Some friends thought I was crazy, but in the end everyone who knows and loves me supported my decision. I am happier now. I used to be this angry goth surfer chick, mad at the world, constantly searching for answers, exploring every other religion out there, breaking it down, and trying to "disprove it". While I was trying to "prove that Christianity was not viable", I found out something very different and became a believer. I read "the case for Christ" by Lee Strobel and that book (besides the Bible) changed my life.

Now, I am a totally different person from that angry at the world person I was in college. It is AMAZING what GOD can do in a person's life. I love my life now. I am not ashamed to say that I am a Christian, I believe in and love Jesus for all that He has done in my life.

I was raised Catholic but was baptized Catholic and dedicated Christian. Personally, I don't believe in organized religion at this point. I baptized my son Catholic and will put him though the motions but I do not attend church or anything like that. I might be the odd man out here but I think being spiritual is enough, I dont think it matters where you pray or what set of rules you follow or how big the congregation is or whether or not you jump up and down and scream jesus's name or not. All of those things are man made IMO, I think organized religion is a way to control people, who are we to say what is right and what is wrong? Every religion is different so does that mean one of them is the right way and the rest are wrong? I believe that as long as you live you life as a good person with honorable intentions and you believe in god (no matter what you call him/her) then you will go to heaven (or whatever it is you believe happens when you die)

yes. My mom was "forced" by her ILs to christen me as a Roman Catholic, even though she was not. When I was about 10 or so, she allowed me to start exploring other religions and beliefs on my own, and also to learn the difference between faith and morality and spirituality. I now follow my own beliefs, which are strongly based on the goddess and early pagan religions.

DH was raised in a very strict Roman Catholic environment, but neither practices nor believes. He is in the process of searching for something that makes sense to him.

I too grew up Catholic and even made my confirmation although I remember having to ask my dad to take me to church. They had me enrolled in weekly religion classes to give me something (I think I was an experiement since i was their first!) anyway it was all well and good and I have since moved on from being limited to any particular organized religion. I celebrate life on a daily basis and believe like someone else said that if you're a good person and live an honest life then that is what comes back to you in the end. My son will not be baptized because I don't want to raise him to believe in just one religion, to me spirituality is more about the person than the rules.

So I "deviated" from my original religion technically, but my parents have too so it didn't affect my family at all.
