i saw the queen!
today when i got to work, one of my coworkers offered me tickets to go see the queen's arrival ceremony at the white house. she had put herself on the list - gotten tickets - and then got an invite from a friend who works at the white house to go with him. so - she passed the original tickets on and another coworker and i got to go!
we were way back in the crowd, but actually had a good view of the podium when they gave their remarks. all the pomp and circumstance was fun to watch! i'm glad i got to go!

I find it amazing how British royalty still gets so much attention. I am a nut for books and movies about the Tudor family and think about how royalty is still revered, even if their role now is different.
What color hat was she wearing?

you're right - it is amazing how much attn they get! she was wearing black and white today. black skirt, white jacket with black accents and black hat. i was really impressed at how well she walks around at 81 (on grass and in dress shoes) and at how dignified she carries herself.

unfortunately - no pics. since i didn't know until after i got to work this am that i was going, i didn't bring a camera.  I am bummed about that too, esp bc there was a little girl sitting in a tree (super cute) near where I was standing. she took a ton of pics for ppl standing nearby bc she had a better view than a lot of us bc she was elevated, and i am sure those pics are awesome. oh well! i do have the ticket and the program and the little flags they gave us to wave.

I have seen her once also, during the Commonwealth Games, she came to Manchester Cathedral.
