Am I the only one that feels this way?
I put so much of my self worth into my job. It sounds terrible, but I spend most of my day at work, and since it is research, its not like my work ends when I get home. I am not a mother, so I do not have that to feel good about. I have my DH, but I hate feeling like he is all I have. So if work is going crappy I feel crappy. My current work is grad school, so it is not like I can just leave and get a new job. I would have wasted 5 years with no degree. My DH thinks I am too emotionally involved in my work, but how else should I be? Does anyone else feel like I do?

I know what you mean. When I was in grad school and working 2 jobs, I was busy all the time and focused and had a clear goal. Now that I have graduated, thankfully left my old job, I am unsatisfied. My current teaching job is temporary and I can feel down because I feel like I do not have a definite career path. It's almost like it completed who I am & the value I serve.

Yes! And right now I feel like the work I've done for the past 5 years is for nothing. It makes me feel so worthless.

But soon, your work will be ended and you will get that sense of accomplishment. That is a great feeling. Keep working, you've already got all the work you've done so far to be proud of. I am sure you are building up to something great. Slow and steady wins the race.
