I agree, it's not too bad. I get to read or sleep. I feel bad for the people that drive/sit in traffic. Chat Icon

That would be my husband - the best is when he sleeps thru his stop and then I have to go and pick him up from wherever he gets dumped out at the end of the line!!!

I sleep on the train. I've learned to tune certain things out. I read or nap or do some emails.

I would never drive into the city.

Re: I salute anyone who takes the LIRR to work

I used to commute from NJ to NYC and I would take the 730 train....then coming home I would get home around 7 - 8pm depending on the day I had....and OMG was I exhausted. It is so draining. I do, however, miss my "naps" and reading a good book. Can't do that now that I drive to work.

Re: I salute anyone who takes the LIRR to work

Before I started working in the city and commuting via LIRR I thought all of those people were crazy... Now I know it's not so bad, BUT, I don't know how people do it for 20+ years... that's insanity!

Re: I salute anyone who takes the LIRR to work

I don't mind the train and I have been doing this for 5 yrs-I get to sleep or just relax-I would hate to be sitting in traffic!!! The only thing I hate is when there are delays or cancel trains-thats no fun!!!!
