Does anyone have any knowledge on wild birds?
There has been a bird in our yard for the past week - actually I have never seen it until today - but the reason I know it is there every day is because it doesn't shut up during the night.
I never though birds made any noises at night - does anyone know of a bird that does?
It is driving us nuts at night - especially since this bird has been out there all of these beautiful night that we have had our windows open and all we hear all night is this freakin' bird.
Anyone????

http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&oe=ISO-8859-1&safe=off&resnum=0&q=whippoorwill&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi he said it might be this: The Whip-poor-will or whippoorwill, Caprimulgus vociferus, is a medium-sized (22-27 cm) nightjar, a type of nocturnal bird. The Whip-poor-will is commonly heard within its range, but less often seen. It is named onomatopoetically after its call.
he's not positive though

It's probably a Mockingbird...they go all night and they do all different calls. They'll usually sit at the top of a tree and keep making all different sounds until they attract another birds attention.

TheLorax and Greenfreak are avid birders, there is a thread on Home -- you might ask them....
