RP: ANTS !! (This board get's more traffic)
Has anyone had an Ant problem? Just recently, I have seen Ants in my bedroom and just last night I found more in my kitchen....
I put raid traps down and sprayed. I know that will probably only work for a little while. Any other solutions????? They are so disgusting and annoying...I don't want to find them in my food...
Should I call an exterminator??

Re: RP: ANTS !! (This board get's more traffic)
We had ants in the winter because they were trying to some in from the cold. We had terminex come in because they were in the kitchen and it grossed me out. As soon as the dog was finished eating his food we had to pick it up.
Are they regular ants or carpenter?

Re: RP: ANTS !! (This board get's more traffic)
The one product I've had the best luck with is Terro Traps. The ants swarm & you need to LET them go back to their nest (don't kill them). They feed the poison to the queen & it kills the nest.
It's worked in 3 houses & a boat (that had multiple nests)

yes tea tree is used in aromatherapy technically I should have said essential oils... my favorite blend is tea tree, peppermint and lavender I use it as a general air freshener but its also great to keep the ants and bugs away. I had a spray bottle that I used in my bathroom when I the rest of the house had ants I didn't
I sent you an fm

Re: RP: ANTS !! (This board get's more traffic)
We used stuff called Orthopro Home Defense, which you spray around the permiter (both inside and outside) of your house. It's harmless to kids and pets and it worked great. However, it's only a temporary solution and lasts about 3 months. If you don't mind spraying it every few months, it's a great solution.

This happens everytime it gets warm out! It's so annoying.
Go to Home Depot and buy a big thing with a sprayer on it-- ask the guy which works best for killing ants and he'll show you-- then, spray the entire foundation of your house/condo/apt/co-op/whatever and spray all around the doors and everywhere where there's a link from outside to in.
Hope that helps!
They'll be gone in like A DAY!

Re: RP: ANTS !! (This board get's more traffic)
It depends what kind of ants you have? Are they the big black ones or the little itty bitty ones?
The traps should work on both but the big ones could be carpenter Ants and they eat wood. SO them you might want to call an exterminator

I emailed the company when I was pregnant & had a toddler before using it. They are very good about getting back to you, if you have any questions.
This is from their website Source I accidentally stepped on one of the ant traps. How toxic is this bait and will this exposure harm me? What if my cat or dog gets into the bait and eats some? TERRO® Liquid Ant Bait is a sweet food based product similar to pancake syrup combined with Borax. Borax is a mineral that is mined in the desert in California and is a common active ingredient that is used in soap products such as 20 Mule Team Borax.
The product kills ants but will not harm people or pets. If you spill some on your skin there will be no reaction at all. Simply wash with warm water.
Pets occasionally find the Terro and eat it. Our advice when this happens is to do nothing at all. The product is not toxic enough to cause a problem and the pet will be just fine.
