Yes. Loved it. Very trendy & filled with people dressed in black.
Rooms are small but otherwise a terrific place to stay.

I have stayed at the one on 39th.
It was nice. Nothing amazing. The room was close to $500/night.
I think we could have found a nicer place and better location.

DH's cousin & family from OH stayed there in the summer 2 yrs ago. DH and I went to see them and it's a very beautiful hotel. very modern and trendy. lots of water features, they give an apple when you check in 
drinks at the bar are  I think $15 a drink!

Yeaaa that bar is sick. I went upstairs to the lobby area to use the bathroom it was very nice. My friends were staying there and they really like it.

The one on 48th/49th I think.
Also contemplating the Intercontinental on 48th. It's for my inlaws. They don't want to stay in Times Square and these two hotels seem to have reasonable rates considering they are a 4 star.
The times square hotels are all cheaper though.

I'm not sure if this helps but IMO, the crowd at the W was very "young"

I agree the W is young. If they do not mind the cost the Waldorf is right there too. Plus there are a few hotels in that 'hood on 3rd ave as well (one block off of Lex) There is a Courtyard Marriot on I think 51st & 3rd (if I remember correctly).

Def choose intercontinetal over the W for your in-laws. If you are looking to stay in that area--there is a marriot across the st from the intercon, there is also a hotel on 38th and lex call the shelburne.... both are way more up the alley for in laws.
I do work with tons of hotels in ny each day. FM me if you want more info

I just recommended the one on 39th on another thread. W's are always nice, IMO. But they are very trendy. Would they consider the Roosevelt (I belive its 45th (?) and Madison)? That one is nice and intimate, nice rooms, etc. Dont' know how pricey though.
