This is pretty freaky!
The other day, while eating dinner, my DH and I were talking about my MIL who passed away 2.5 years ago. We were just talking about random, non-important stuff, but she was the topic of the conversation.
While we were talking, my 5 year old was eating and mumbling something. He LOVES to talk when his father and I are talking and I was about to correct him. Then we heard what he was saying! More like singing!
"You Are My Sunshine"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The very same song my MIL sang to him as a baby. That song was her ANTHEM. It was her childhood song and she sang it to all of the grandchildren to carry on tradition.
He hasn't heard that song since she passed away when he was 2.5 years old!!!
He said he "thinks" he learned it in school (which I asked his teacher, and he didn't). Then he said that he was "just thinking about it."
HOW FREAKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THEN...I took a pic of my LR and DR to post pics on the Home board and look what I saw.... ORBS!!!
I love my MIL and I miss her like crazy, but...this freaks me out a little!!

Aww, that's really sweet. I know it's freaky, but how beautiful for your child to have memories of his grandmother, or at least know that she is with him.
I think its great. But I would totally be freaked, too.

I wouldnt worry. You know her and she was good. Its just an extra "lookout" for you. They say kids and animals she them when they pass. My niece said "gigi" when she was 2 yrs old and that was my great-grandmother who passed 15 yrs before she was born. She was looking at her picture and just said "gigi" we all fell on the floor but in a good way.

OMG!! wow!
ok, the pics - that's probably dirt or glare from the lens.
as for the song... let me tell you - I still remember some things from when I was really little. my mom was in SHOCK when I told her some of the things I remembered from when I was the same age and your son. we moved to Israel right after I turned 2 and we stayed in temp housing for immigrants while the building my parents bought an apt in was still under construction. we befriended a family there from Australia that also had kids and I remember very specific things! I was probably not even 2.5 yet.

Re: This is pretty freaky!
That is VERY freaky, but very cool too... we had something similar happen about a week ago. My daughter is 18 months and just starting to talk. She knows mommy, daddy and calls my father "baba" for grandpa. My father is living with us right now, so everytime he comes into the room, she runs to him and says "baba". She doesn't call ANYONE else by that name.
The other day I was showing her pictures of everyone in the family, asking her who each person was. She pointed to me, and said mommy, pointed to DH and said daddy, pointed to my father and said baba.
So, then, on a whim, I pointed to a picture of DH's father, and asked her who it was. He is the person she's named after. Mind you, he passed away about 25 years ago. We only have one picture of him in the house, and we've never shown it to her, and it doesn't look like my father at all because the picture is of him when he was in his 30's. In fact, it looks like the spitting image of DH, so I half expected her to say daddy. Though, normally, when she doesn't recognize someone, she'll just stay quiet and look to me to tell her who it is.
So, I pointed to the picture, and asked her, Alex, who is this? She looked at the picture, smiled SO big, looked back to me and said confidently "baba". DH and I were shocked.
Since then I"ve showed her the picture a dozen times, and everytime she responds "baba".
Freaky, but very cool

That is soo funny!
It is very sweet if it is in fact a "visit" from my MIL. But, it still freaks me out a little. Hey...she never just "dropped by" when she was alive...why now?

Re: This is pretty freaky!
I have chills- I love stuff like that
I posted over the summer about my run on the beach with the butterflies following me- then my weird craving for mexican
and then the normal mexican place I go to was closed- so I went to Moe's in Oceanside- where they were having a fund raiser for the kind of cancer my Mom died from
it's freaky- but in a good way

That is amazing!!! When children are little it is said that they can see angels. Sometimes they call them imaginary friends. I think the orbs confirmed this theory.

Re: This is pretty freaky!
I think its beautiful, but I totally understand how it could be freaky.
My daughter used to stare at a corner of my lviing room adn just laugh and laugh. We had no idea what she was looking at. We think it may have been my dad.
A few years ago, DH and I were on vacation in Napa Valley. I had a massage at the spa. Afterwards, the masseuse comes up to me and says, "I know this is wierd, but have you lost a loved one recently?". I told her I lost my dad a few years earlier and my two grandfather's that year. She said she saw someone in the room with us- Talk about Freaky.

Re: This is pretty freaky!
We live in the house that my grandmother died in (when I was 7, 20 years ago). We moved in here last March and I took tons of pictures of the place (around midnight) so we could do before and after pictures, and because I wanted to remember it exactly how it was when my grandma lived there...
Anyway, there were several orbs around also, but 2 of them were larger than the rest... which I truly believe are my grandparents. It doesn't freak me out though, it kind of comforts me to think that she's here watching over us.
