Is anyone Vegetarian?
Is anyone Vegetarian? I am wondering if anyone was since there is a possibility I wont be able to eat meat during this pregnancy. If so what kinds of foods do you eat to get the best possible nutrition.

Re: Is anyone Vegetarian?
I wouldnt say that I'm a vegetarian- but I am totally turned off to meat of any kind now. I've tried to eat it and I just cant. I eat alot of vegetables and beans, cheese, yogurt now.

Yup - I'm actually vegan - so no animal products at all - although I did have a snickers bar from time to time - man those cravings were strong!
But otherwise - no meat, eggs, dairy. also, I was too sick with morning sickness to take prenatal vitamins - I did eat very healthfully though, and Cailen was born perfectly robust and healthy! You do not eat meat to get protein - I have been a vegetarian since I was 18, and a vegan since I was 23 - I am 33 years old and had a very healthy pregnancy after the hyperemsis went away!
Any questions, please feel free to ask me - some of the foods I ate are an acquired taste, but very healthy!

Re: Is anyone Vegetarian?
I was for a while till I got PG, then I craved meat and gave it. But I still avoiud Red meat, its too hard to digest. I had medical problems that lead to me being a vegetarian.
My issue is that fruits would also bother me. Some fruits are very hard to digest. As is Fiber.....so you have to start slow if you have digestion issues and see what works for you.

Re: Is anyone Vegetarian?
I eat meat here and there, but most of my protein comes from walnuts, chick peas, egg and cheese.

Re: Is anyone Vegetarian?
i eat dairy and fish, but no red meat, pork, poultry, etc.
i got plenty of protein from legumes, nuts, dairy, eggs, and soy.
i would make big pots of lentil, minestrone or other kind of bean soups, chili, etc. things that were easy to store and reheat, since i had no interest in cooking daily. plenty of fruits and veggies daily too. pasta with veggies and beans was always a simple staple!

Is anyone Vegetarian? I am wondering if anyone was since there is a possibility I wont be able to eat meat during this pregnancy. If so what kinds of foods do you eat to get the best possible nutrition. I was until PG. I don't eat red meat or poultry (only fish occassionally) and I avoid dairy.
One of my first cravings was for meat & cheese, so rather than suffer the whole PG I gave in. At about 14 weeks or so those cravings subsided, but I still eat whole milk cheeses (oragic if I can) and some poultry (free-range & organically fed).
I think it is possible to keep organic, but since anemia is such a common concern during PG it might be hard to properly supplement your diet & get the right amount of protien, which also needs to increase while PG.
I would speak with a nutritionist and your Dr to see what will work best for you.
