never so scared in my life
went to the ER last night after discovering bright red, clotting blood (sorry TMI) and cramps. They kept me waiting 7 hours, but the ultrasound showed a live pregnancy with a heartbeat. They sent me home saying it could be a threatened miscarriage, time will tell. Saw RE this morning, he showed us the heatbeat, and my beta level is well over 5000 so there are no other signs of m/c. Since last night the bleeding has almost diappeared, just some slight brown spotting. RE said unless bleeding gets very excessive, he will see me next week. Meanwhile Im terrified I am about to lose this baby!!!! Many women have told me they had bleeding early in pg, but the red clotting stuff scared me!!!!! All prayers- or comforting stories- would be welcomed and appreciated!

Re: never so scared in my life
Jeanna I'll be praying for you but I know there are alot of people who bled in their first trimester. I believe Diane did and she has twins now...I know this because I had some spotting early on and she responded to one of my posts. Seeing the heartbeat is a very good thing so I'm sure everything is fine. Sending you many

Re: never so scared in my life
JUst wanted to say that I bled from week 5 to week 11 off and on. Sometimes even bright red blood, but mostly brown. Went to ER to make sure it was not ectopic at 5 1/2 wks. It wasn't. At 11 weeks I was advised to cut back on baby aspirin and that seemed to help. Doc told me if there is still a hb then the bleeding is not from pregnancy, but another cause hopefully one that will not affect the baby.
I had two miscarriages before this so I pretty much gave up hope thinking this was going to be another. ( By the way one of my miscarriages had no symptoms not blood nor cramping so maybe its not the best indicator.)
Anyway the point I am trying to make is don't give up hope if they saw a hb and no obvious problems you still have a good chance. I can't believe I made it this far (still spotting occasionally at 19 wks. preggo) and I hope you do too.
Good luck!

Re: never so scared in my life
I actually went through this with my pregnancy too. The same type of scenario-I rushed to the dr thinking I was having a m/c. What had happened in my case was I originally had twins and one didn't make it. Almost like a vanishing twin with a little bit of bleeding. I'm happy everything is ok!

Re: never so scared in my life
I had some spotting but what I had sounded different.
I have heard there is increased bloodflow in the cervix, uterus etc and that spotting can be normal.
I will say a prayer for you today even though everything sounds ok
