Glucose Test Q....
I have my glucose test (1 hour) on Friday 11 a.m. I wanted to know if its okay to drink fluids that a.m. (water) or if you shouldn't drink/eat anything.

FOr my one hour, they said it was fine.
But for my 3 hour, I HAD to drink water, i felt like I was dieing! I also was chewing a piece of sugarless gum. They told me to leave and the test couldnt be done. They said I wasnt allowed to have ANYTHING in my system.

Ask your doctor. I was told I could eat, but I think that is why I had to take the 3 hour.
But I would think water is ok, it doesn't have any sugar, does it?

You can eat/drink up until the time you have to drink the stuff. Do not eat anything with sugar though!!

I just took this last night - the paper they gave me said no food or fluids (which they didn't tell me the first time I took the test when I was 12 weeks) for 2 hours before the test - otherwise to do things normally up to that point.
Etd to add I was surprised about the no water (they told me stop water and food at 6, drink at 7 and test at 8)

Do whatever they ask you to do. Each practice seems to vary on "the rules." Mine said I could eat and drink prior to the drink, just nothing after. Some say no food or drink at all until after the blood is drawn.
side note: why can't they find a way to test this without taking blood?

My doctor told me that I didnt have to fast, but I had a better chance of passing it if I did...I fasted and still failed the 1 hour, so who knows!

I was told water was OK. And a toast (I am assuming plain!!!) if I had been too hungry.
ETA: I did not drink or eat prior to mine and passed by 1 point.

I have mine at 11:30am tomorrow as well. My doc told me i can eat but nothign with sugar and drink water if I want. Nothing with sugar though. Good Luck Tomorrow!

I was told to eat and drink normally before the test, but not to have anything after it.
