How PI$$ed am I...
JI dont really know where to begin except with a bit of history...
I have a history of preterm labor and possible cervical incompetance...I lost one set of twins, my eldest daughter has Down Syndrome and my 2nd set of twins were born at 35 weeks after a long and difficult pregnancy...
My point being that things arent easy for me..But Im not one to complain b/c I am the one who decided to have another baby..(Im remarried and my husband and I wanted to have one together)
OK here is what Im peeved about..
I went to the doctor in October and had a normal PAP smear..Letter from DR states "all is normal please plan on coming back for YEARLY exams"
This Dr repeated the PAP smear as part of my prenatal appointment...This PAP smear came back Abnormal..He wanted at that point to do a colpo and biopsy...which I had a big problem with considering my cervix issues in the past and wanted to wait until after the baby was born...He never once gave me what the results were just said that the colpo and biopsy had to be done..AND IN NO WAY COULD IT WAIT UNTIL AFTER DELIVERY!!!
Well yesterday I had my 1st appointment with my new Dr..and he explained to me the results of the PAP smear..apparently this is something that they usually simply repeat the PAP smear in 6 months and then should the condition continue to exist do they perform a colpo and biopsy...THAT is b/c most of the conditions will correct themselves!!!!! Additionally with my history he wouldnt want to go poking at my cerivx...
OK so since then I have researched this on the internet (we are talking 20 some odd sites) and they all say the same thing..
I AM SO MAD THAT THE OTHER DOCTOR WAS SO GUN HO ON DOING SOMETHING THAT COULD OF AFFECTED MY PREGNANCY (CONSIDERING MY HISTORY)
Thanks For Letting Me Vent

Ugh, I'm sorry that you had to deal with that. However, you should be really proud of yourself for being such a great advocate for yourself and your unborn baby!! Thank goodness you had the knowledge to get a second opinion! I hope everything goes well for you with this pregnancy!!

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I give you alot of credit for staying strong after all you've been through. Its always best to get a second and even a 3rd opinion when needed. I may be misunderstanding here so bear with me but maybe the 1st doctor was insisting out of concern for your health due to the abnormal pap results... is there anything else they can do that's less invasive?

I looked at it this way at first as well....
My biggest issue was that had I not gotten pregnant it would of been OK for me to go back for a yearly exam..So to me waiting would of been OK...His attitude was that he treated ALL abnormal PAPs this way regardless of protocol or the individual patient. I kept asking him what my risks were if I decided to wait it out and he kept telling me that it wasnt an option!!! Isnt that for me to decide?
I personally feel that he didnt purposely tell me the exact results of the PAP b/c he knew that I could of found out tons of information online...
I have since found out that the chances of this developing cervical cancer...and that only is if it is left completely untreated...after like 3 years..is less than .25%...that's 1/4%
In some respects getting a second opinion is difficult b/c whose opinion do you trust???? For me the fact that over 20 different sites on the internet have given me roughly the same advice as the 2nd doctor is enough for me...
THANK YOU EVERY ONE FOR LETTING ME VENT!!!!!
