Insurance question

So my DH got a new jobChat Icon and of course we will have to change insurance, luckily we will be covered from the 1st day he starts working. my question is will the new insurance company give me a hard time with covering the pregnancy? I hope they dont see it as a pre existing condition, has anyone experienced this?
Thanks!

Re: Insurance question

Im going to assume that you live in NY State..

NY State has Pre-exsisting condition laws that are some of the best in the country...

As long as you have continuous coverage the new insurance coverage has to treat the condition...So Im going to say that they will cover the pregnancy with no problem at all...

Should there be a lapse in coverage of say 1 month then the insurance company doesnt haven to cover the pre-exsisting condition for 1 month. And so on up to 1 year. The longest a new insurance company doesnt have to cover a pre-exsisting condition is 1 year no matter how long the lapse in coverage is...

This may not even pertain to pregnancy..

I think someone on here works in insurance..I forget who but I remember it on the "what do mommys do for work" Post recently...They could probably explain it better than I.

Re: Insurance question

They cannot decline any PG visits that are out of the range of "usual & customary" if you change insurance. (I was also worried about this as I changed insurances at 10 weeks.)Chat Icon

Your DH should let his HR benefits admin know at what point in the PG you are though in case he needs their help later.Chat Icon

Pregnancy is not considered a pre-existing condition.

No, I have needed to switch my insurance 3 times just with this pregnancy alone and it was never a problem. Just make sure that you dr. bills it to the right insurance company.
