We want to get pre-approved...

We are getting more serious about looking to buy something now so I think we should get pre-approved.

How long does it take and once we get the pre-approval letter how long does it last?

Also, any rec's on where to go?

I highly recommend Scott Finger from HSBC - he'll come to m, or he can meet you at any of th HSBC branches to go everything.

All he needed from us was our W-2 from the year before and a month worth of wage paychecks.

We got our pre-approval letter in the mail within a few days - but we started looking right away b/c he told us the range of what to work in/look at.

HSBC can pretty much guarantee they won't ever sell your mortgage to anothe Corp/bank b/c they are a trusted bank that is global.

Scott works day and night for you and is avail at the drop of a phone call. He came to us at 10pm one night to go over questions we had, and he was avil. on the weekends to lock us into a interest rate and fax over a letter of pre-approval to the seller of a house that we later purchased this week.

HSBC the pre-approval letter is good for 120 days. You can always reapply (not sure if that's the proper word for it) once the 120 days are up.

We used Greg Thelian. He came to our house at night and gave us an idea right then and there. Betsy's recommendation helped us decide on HSBC. Plus, he is reachable all the time and via email he is rapid fire with responses.
