Re: i am changing Colors
What colors did you try?
Right now the house we are buying looks great as is and I like the paint colors they used, but I am probably going to change them anyway to make the place more "my own." I REALLY want a red dining room, so I hope to add a chair rail and do red on the top and a tan-ish color or white on the bottom, and then maybe a tan in the adjacent living room.
I will probably paint after we move in and we get funriture. Maybe I'll change my mind.
Here are some pics
Formal LR. I like the the sellers color, but if I want a red dining room, this is going to have to go! The built in shleves add a nice seperation from the LR to the DR
Here is the dining room. I think I want to add a chair rail and the add the box moldings to the bottom half of the wall.

Re: i am changing Colors
LP - I once saw a model home with a blue/grey color on the walls in the bedroom. I never thought of a bold color like that for a bedroom but it was GORGEOUS! I should have asked what the name of it was...
the best way I can describe it is... it's like a medium shade of blue and has a grey hue to it

Re: i am changing Colors
saw this article on LIF's home page, thought some of the tips might help you make a decision HTH
Rooms With A Hue: How To Decide On The Color That’s Best For You
I know of a couple that changed the paint in their home three times because the wife didn’t like it. And, while I don’t necessarily agree with her tactics, I “do,” agree that finding the “perfect” color can be quite perplexing. After all, what we like or see in magazines may look good on paper, or in our minds eye, but not on our walls. And, lets not forget that your idea of the quintessential color may not be the same as his and vice versa.
With these and other factors in mind, experts suggest taking your time in choosing. And, if you still can’t decide, take the following into consideration:
· First Impressions. Go to a paint store or open a box of crayons and pick the first color that captures your attention and catches your eye.
· Think about how certain scenery makes you feel. Are you more partial to clean, green hues of the outdoors and forest, are you at peace with the ambiance of a warm sunset, or do you find solace in clean, clear shades of winter such as snow.
· Take a cue from your closet. Think about the items you frequently wear as opposed to those you purposely pass over. And, think about why. Is the style a “turn-off” or is it the color you can’t stand. You may also want to take note of the most prevalent shades of your wardrobe selection, staying within that family is a safe bet.
· Account for size. Large spaces may mandate darker shades for a warmer, cozier appeal, while smaller spaces may warrant brighter hues to make them look larger and roomier.
· Mix and match mentality. While you may want to give each of your rooms their own color and personality, you’ll want to make sure you tie in the colors and unify them with one neutral color.
· Play up the purpose by taking into consideration what the “theme” you’re trying to achieve is. Is the room meant to be more relaxed or is it an area that you’d prefer to be more invigorating and energized.
· Base your decision on past, present, and future. Think about color schemes you liked and disliked in the past, how you feel about the current color scheme, and how you envision the future of the given room.
· Consider lighting and how much is available as well as what time of the day you expect to use the room most.
· Play off the environment. Think about enhancing existing scenery or counter-balancing them
· Take cues from other similar homes with color patterns and schemes you like and incorporate those into your own layout and home with a touch or hint of your own unique personality.
