What to do?
We haven't received the ID cards for DH's new insurance yet, but of course I want to get things rolling with LI-IVF. Should I call LI-IVF and make an appointment or just wait until I get the cards?

Can you get the information that will be on the cards?? Like the policy and group #s? Otherwise maybe you can still make the appt and by the time you go to see them, you may have the card...

I agree. When I called to make my RE appointment they just asked for my ID #. They never even saw the card!

Also, you may want to include the 1800 number to contact your health insurance for verification. Other than what everyone listed above, I think you should be fine!

My GF who works at a podiatrists office checked online and the coverage is effective as of last week. She is faxing me the information - we just haven't received the cards yet.
Do you think I'm crazy - maybe I should just wait

I don't think you are crazy at all.
If it were me, I would call and get things going.
The worst thing that can happen is they say "no, you need the card first" and then you wait.

Gerty- as long as you have the group # and ID# you can see the doctor.
Particulary since you have verified that your coverage is definitely effective now!

Make your appointment. You may have to wait a couple of weeks for an initial consultation. If your appointment comes up before your get your card, they can always call and verify your coverage. They have a large business office)
You can also call your insurance and ask them to expedite sending you your cards.

I agree...go ahead and make the appointment and let them know, they will wait to bill the insurance company if you ask them too.

Okay!! I called and my consultation is November 13th!! I am so excited to start IVF - maybe this time we will get our BFP!!
I also got the insurance info faxed to me from my friend and called them to make sure there wouldn't be any problems. What a difference from dealing with Empire (BAD Empire ) , she gave an authorization for both Dan and I, told us exactly what is and isn't covered and for how long, and gave me all kinds of information.

PS- The actual ID car is no bigie, as long as you have the policy number and the policy is active, they can bill your insurance

Make the appt and give them your new info - what you have - and tell them you'll bring the cards with you at your 1st appt. Also call your ins co and tell them you have an appt in a few days (ok lie a little) and tell them you need them to expidite shipping your cards to you. they may be able to fax you a copy in the meantime too.
