Bells Palsy?

I went to the ENT on Monday for extreme ear pain. She said there wasn't anything wrong with my ear and that maybe it was "reference" pain from my wisdom teeth being extracted. Fast Forward to Wednesday evening, my face began to "Palsy" and today I called the Dr. and am waiting for her call back!

Why am I having such a crappy summer?

Re: Bells Palsy?

My dad had Bells Palsy. He had a slooping of one side of his mouth. It was only temporary but it lasted about 6 - 8 weeks.

Re: Bells Palsy?

I had bells palsy too... it is only on one side of your face and it just kind of freezes in place... they give you steroids for it and it takes about 6 weeks to get better.

Just wanted to add that physical therapy can be very effective also. They have a mall electircal stimulation machine that targets the affected musculature.
Good Luck.

I just said "OMG" outloud, although no one is here to hear me.

I had teeth removed about a week ago. Two days after, I had some numbness in my lip, and it has traveled through my chin. Its almost gone, but I was worried about it.

Re: Bells Palsy?

So, I went to the ENT on Friday and yes, it is Bells Palsy. She was impressed thought that my face has almost returned to normal. However, my left eye is still a bit weak. She put me on 15 days of steroids and a new anti-viral medication. She beleives that I may have Lyme disease since Bells is usually caused by a virus carried by ticks. The weird thing is that I haven't left the city but I do have two dogs.

I had to have an ultra-sound done because my left arm was swollen. Thankfully, it was clear and today the swelling is gone!

I am going to have a MRI done on Friday to rule out any tumors that may be present in my head.

All in all, this has been a fantastic summer! Wisdom teeth removed, Bells Palsy, just great I tell yeah! At least I have vacation in 3 weeks. We are off to Arizona and Vegas!
