Zac Efron Went to Rehab for Coke
Online gossips are reporting today that Zac Efron quietly completed a stint in rehab earlier this year, but is clean and sober now.
Efron, 25, a former teen idol now turned up-and-coming actor, was seen most recently looking sleek on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival for the premiere of Parkland, his forthcoming ensemble drama about the JFK assassination opening Oct. 4.
"I'm good, real good," he said then, according to E! Online.
"He's healthy, happy and not drinking," the website quoted an unnamed source as saying. "He's taking time to focus on working."
But TMZ is now reporting, citing multiple unnamed sources, that his treatment, completed about five months ago, was for "cocaine addiction." And possibly he also may have dabbled in "Molly," the lately-in-the-news pure form of Ecstasy popular at clubs and raves.
The website said Efron's alleged problem "spiraled out of control" during the filming of one of his new movies, Neighbors.
"Sources tell us Zac ... was a no-show on a number of days," TMZ says, citing a source connected with the film. "It was common knowledge he was struggling with cocaine," according to this source.
Three other sources confirmed to TMZ that Efron also allegedly tried Molly, which hit headlines recently when several young people died after consuming it at concerts.
"We're told ... early this year, Zac and some friends went on a coke rager in a room at the SkyLofts at the MGM Grand in Vegas ... and caused around $50,000 in damage. No word on who took care of the bill," said TMZ.
The former star of High School Musical has not been previously known for drunken or stoned behavior, unlike other young Hollywood types such as Lindsay Lohan or Demi Lovato.
But the rehab story has not been confirmed, and representatives of Efron did not return messages. TMZ said Efron's spokesperson declined to comment.
Meanwhile, besides Parkland, he's set to appear in other films later this year, including comedies That Awkward Moment and Neighbors. E! Online reported that a picture of Efron shirtless from the latter film recently garnered zillions of eyeballs online.
At Toronto, he was asked: Do you ever get used to the attention?
"No, you can't," Efron said. "It's all ridiculous."
But then he smiled, "It's cool."

I never liked him in High School Musical. Then I started to like him, especially shirtless in the Lucky Ones. LOL. He started to look good! and then I noticed he stopped looking good. He kind of looked like he was on drugs- also always wearing weird sunglasses (prolly to cover his eyes on purpose or just because it makes u more sensitive to light). I hope he stays clean. and doesn't relapse like the guy from glee.

These guys have so many opportunities for success and happiness that so many young people don't. And then they go in this direction. And then when/if they clean up, people marvel at how brave they are.
Wish we gave more credit and admiration to everyday guys who get through every day with discipline and do things that benefit others.
