Your opinion, was mine wrong??
This is from another board that a woman wanted support on. I told her she should have let the parents taken care of the situation first. Was I wrong as the women on the board are all attacking me! Thanks!
"I was unhappy with Vanessa's girl scout leaders because they changed the schedule of meetings & another girl in the troop can't participate for 2-3 months because of her custody schedule (mom won't bring her/lives out of town). So I wrote them an email telling them I didn't like that they did that, didn't communicate with the stepmom much and offered a solution so stepchild/girlscout can still come. So my email was supporting the stepmom (a teacher I work with) to try to get it so her stepdd could come to the meetings & not miss out. So one of the leaders came up to her & said, did you see the bitchy email Vickie sent me???? I really can't imagine the look stepmom gave her, I wish I was there. Really if you think my email was bitchy, (and it wasn't!!!! :smokin ) wouldn't you commiserate with someone other than the person it was supporting?"

OK, I see where you are coming from, but it sounds like what the poster did was very nice, (assuming she spoke with the stepmother first). Some people are too shy/scared/concerned to stick up for themselves.
While I disagree with you a little, I think your opinion is VERY VALID.
I think on boards like this (and LIF) a lot of times people don't want to be told their wrong. That's just what it comes down to.

Thanks. The stepmother DID speak with the leaders and they told her there was nothing they could do and she is not the one who brings the girl to the meetings, her mother does. This women did offer her home to meetings which I think is great but an e-mail that, (if you knew this woman like I do from other posts), was nasty was really inappropriate in my opinion. Sometimes I think it is better NOT to get involved as now the leaders will always have a problem with her.

Maybe she should've talked to the troop leaders rather than emailing them - things can get ugly through email!
Your opinion isn't wrong, just a different perspective from the one she has, and she probably doesn't want to hear it.

I think also it may be a regional thing. Here we tend to mind our own business for the most part, but I have a good friend who lives in the midwest and it seems to be the norm there for everyone to know all about these situations and get involved. She's always telling me "It takes a village" when I tell her to mind her own business.

True and many towns are so small that everyone knows everyone so nothing is private.
