Your DC's School Experience V Yours
If your DC has started school does it resemble in any way the school you went to as a kid and if not does it bother you that its different?
My DD started Pre K today at the same school she will be at until high school and its SO far removed from my school experience that it makes me sad and anxious. It kind of makes me want to pack up and take her home so she can go to the same type of school I did.
I guess it really didnt hit home to me until today as to the type of schooling she will be getting, how different it will be to mine and it brings up lots of questions that I had really never thought of before.
Today is a stressful day around here

Second, may I ask - how is it different?

Not mine at all. We moved every 2 years or so with my dad's job, so I changed schools a lot.
However, it's virtually identical to DH's, we even live in the house he grew up in. They went to a different nursery/preschool than he did, but as of yesterday DD is going to the same elementary school DH did 30 years ago. Some of his or BIL's old teachers are still there, many of them remember my MIL from the PTA and it's the same principal who started there when DH was in 4th grade!

It's hard, because we struggled with the decision 2 years ago when deciding on the type of school to send our children to. Ultimately, they are in the same type of schooling I went to. So for me, it's very comfortable and familiar. Not so much for DH. But I can say that DH loves their school and says it just took him a bit to learn to see a different way.
