You dont read or hear much about these type of stories

I thought this was a nice story and shows that their are really nice and brave people out there.

Man who saved lightning victim honored by county

SARASOTA - Nearly 6 weeks after getting struck by lightning while fishing on Siesta Key Beach, 28-year-old Eric Troyer was reunited for the first time Tuesday with the man who saved his life.

Eric Troyer loves fishing on Siesta Key Beach, but he never thought trying to catch fish would land him in a coma. "It was such a shock and it was almost not a reality that it really did happen so it was hard to really comprehend that it did happen and was reality."

Andrew Cratty was out for a late night jog, when he saw a flash of light and then Troyer lying in the water. He gave troyer CPR before going to get help.

On Tuesday, Cratty was honored by Sarasota County for his heroic actions that night.

By saving his life, Cratty has given Troyer a new perspective on things. "It's clearly changed my definition of a good day fishing...it's not how many fish you catch...it's whether you come back safe."

Troyer's wife Jana got that frightening call about her husband, and now can never look at lightning the same. "It's definitely one of those calls you never think you're gonna be the person to get. I hate lightning now. The first lightning storm that happened afterwards was actually the day we were leaving the hospital and he was fine and I was a wreck."

Eric feels grateful to be given a second chance at life, and says there is a reason Cratty went for a jog that late Tuesday night. "I think that God sent him to the beach at that time to save my life."

Awesome. Chat Icon Love stories like this. Though I have to admit, I gave a chuckle at the "It was a shock" statement...I'm a horrible person Chat Icon
