Yoga?

Maybe a stupid question.... but is yoga only for flexible people?

I'm interested in trying yoga, but I am the complete opposite of flexible! I can barely touch my knees when I bend!Chat Icon

I'm just looking for something I can really get into -- my DH does brazilian jiu jitsu for the past 4ish years and LOVES it, and I'd like to have something I can get into too.

Re: Yoga?

I think yoga would be good for you because it helps you become more flexible.

Re: Yoga?

No, they usually have modifications for people who are new to yoga. And the yoga will help you GET more flexible, so you can slowly work up to the advanced poses.

Re: Yoga?

Everybody starts somewhere.

Even with people who do yoga for a while, there are different levels. It takes time and practice.

Some people will never be able to do all the poses and that's OK.

Re: Yoga?

nope! it'll help you become more flexible, and i think it feels even better if you're not super flexible becasue it stretches you out and it feels great afterwards!
i don't do it much, but i bought a "yoga for dummies" DVD at target to start with, and i like it and i figured it would help me get used to it before i get the guts to actually join a class in public- LOL

Re: Yoga?

I started yoga classes about seven months ago and I love it. There are people there who are all different levels and one of the main ideas of the class is to do the pose "where you are today" - if you can only reach your knees, that's all you do. It definitely will help you become more flexible and stronger.
