Yet another reason I can't stand this office
So every lawfirm I have ever worked at has a calendar clerk. Its one person to manage everyone schedules and to make sure that every deposition or conference is covered. This firm does not.
So I get a call from my boss saying that he got a call that there is a deposition going on and we don't have anyone there, can I go. So I start to get ready and call the firm to say I'm on my way, but I find out there is another attorney from my office there. 
ITs amazing how smart these partners are, but this office is still so disorganized.

Wow. That's pretty bad. And opens them up to SO much liability.
Have you thought about bringing some of your suggestions to the managing/senior partner?

i actually used to work as a calendar clerk, and i cannot imagine a firm not having one... how on earth can you keep anything straight? do the attorneys get assigned cases and then have to make appearances on only those cases?

I know it was an idea that was already considered and decided against- so I haven't brought it up.

someone told me. And when I met the jr. partners, they specifically told me that this firm does not have a calendar clerk. THey want everyone to manage their own schedules. What people do is send an e-mail to everyone informing them of their schedule.
The attorney handling this file did send one, but put the wrong file number on the e-mail.

We actually don't have a calendar clerk at my firm, but everyone I work with is responsible enough to manage their own calender so that this will not happen. That was so irresponsible of the attorney handling that case!
