[Yay or Nay Poll] Wall mirror

Without my reasoning, I wanted to see what you all think. This would be for a wall above a bar/buffet. Walls are the same green as the mirror but lighter. It's 32" around.

I forgot to say... if you vote Nay, can you tell me what you object to specifically? I know it's not everyone's style but do you think it's too bright, to immature, whatever...? I can take brutal honesty so fire away. Chat Icon

I like it! As long as it goes with the spirit of the room (ie not in a formal living room with antiques and maroon velvet couches), I say "yay".

To be really fair, I'd have to see a picture of the wall or room where you'd like to put it. Just seeing it as is, I voted Nay, but I could see it working well with the right furniture and style of room.

I like the idea of it, but it's too much of everything imo. If you are going to get a really modern mirror like that, I think it should be a single color...since the style itself is already bold, I think adding so many bright colors makes it overwhelming. Check out Chiasso.com for similar styles of mirrors, but like I said..I would lean towards a more subdued color scheme if you really like that style.

Re: [Yay or Nay Poll] Wall mirror

i say nah. I think it is a very modern piece. I think if you house is modern decorated then it could work, but not a fan of making just one room modern.

If there was a picture of the room or a description, it may help us all, but im basing my opinion on what I like and my home.

Well, a cautious yay (skipped the poll though). I think you'd have to be very careful about the rest of the room because it is pretty bold.

Re: [Yay or Nay Poll] Wall mirror

Thanks everyone!

Ok... my explanation... The wall the buffet is on is a blank canvas. It's not in a room per se - I have one big room as my main area.

We already have a circle theme in the living room in the rug and throw pillows which are around the corner from where the buffet is. Modern-ish furniture. But largely brown and boring. The accessories and accents are what we're looking for to jazz it up.

Here's an old-ish pic of the living room. We have a large flatpanel tv on the wall now and the accents on the media console and bookcase are nicer. I'm thinking of getting rid of the throw pillows, I think they're too bright.

Now, excuse the dog crate, throw rug and shoes by the back door. The buffet will be moved to the left once the dog crate is gone and the things on top of it would be removed too:

We were thinking of getting circle wall decals to decorate that wall also, but I'm not sure yet.

In short, we have very little whimsy and very little color in this main room of the house and we're trying to break out of our comfort zone. Get away from the boring. That's why I was considering that mirror.

Now what do you think? Chat Icon

I said yay even without seeing the pics.

It's very modern and I think it will look really good - especially with the light green walls.

Re: [Yay or Nay Poll] Wall mirror

Nay. I think it would only go with ultra modern furniture.
