Re: XPost from Preg - L&D/visiting - esp Stonybrook
I had DS at Stony Brook at like 3AM. DH was there (obv) and the grandparents came during visiting hours at 2PM. It was perfect--gave me time to shower and get ready. DS was in the NICU.
I was moved from L&D into a private room about 2 hours after delivering--they push out the afterbirth, etc., and then said they were getting a room ready.

Re: XPost from Preg - L&D/visiting - esp Stonybrook
Both experiences at SB.
With DS#1 I gave birth at 2 am, pushed for 2 hrs on the L&D rm, my DH and mom were in the room. After G was born, my DH called his parents and they came. They saw the baby in the L&D room, I think it was around 4/5 am in morning. Then they brought me up to my room.
With DS #2, we didn't make it to the hospital, ended up giving birth in our playroom and my DH and mom delivered Aa.
After Aa was born the ambulance came and we were brought to SB ER. Aa was born at 6:45 am at home, and I didn't get to see him again until after 3 pm, but that was because I needed to be repaired, then I passed out in the bathroom from lack of blood.
I was with the c-section girls after my repair waiting to go up to my room. There DH's was with them and some had their babies with them. I remember this, because I really wanted to see my baby. My DH was his mom (my MIL) getting food and in the room where I would be waiting for me. I remember being really concerned about the baby, I wanted to hold him and I remember being concerned that my DH and MIL were holding him and I wasn't, I know stupid, but he is my baby and I wanted my DH and I to be the first to bond with him his 1st couple if hours. I was relieved when I got up to the room that the nurses kept him in the nursery until I came up.
Both experiences were very good at SB.
