xmas spectacular age

Did anyone ever take their young kids to the show? Was thinking of taking my DD who will be 3 this month. I wasn't sure if she might get bored though.

We are taking our kids for the first time this year. They are 8 and 6. Six is really the youngest I would go to see it.

Although I vaguely remember going in my 20's and being bored silly - I think younger kids may enjoy it more. I am thinking of taking my DD for her 4th bday. I was thinking 5 may be a better age but I think it depends on the child really. My daughter could sit through 2 hours of paw patrol... so if she liked the show she could sit through it-- just not sure if she would find it boring! depends on the kid!

Re: xmas spectacular age

I have a very energetic DS but decided to take him last year anyway at 3.5 because we got the McDonald's BOGO deal. He seemed to really enjoy it. He sat still and didn't cause any trouble

I liked it, but not enough to make it an every year thing so we'll wait until next year to go again.

I think this is one of those "only you know your child" answers... I am not bringing my dd who is 3.5. I don't think she'd sit for that long watching just adults on stage. That being said... We are testing it out at a local theater instead. So it isn't a waste of $ if we end up leaving early. I said maybe when she's 5 and even then it would prob be iffy.

The show is very short, an hour and a half with no intermission. I think a 3 year old would be fine sitting close up. I actually enjoy the show. I think it's a great production!

Those that have said it's boring, have you been in the past couple of years? We went with a group one year and did the dance class with a Rockette, then saw the show, and I didn't hear anyone complain about it being boring.

I went back in 2012 and I really enjoyed it. They have "special effects" now which which was cool.

The show now is completely different than it was when anyone who posts on this board was a kid. 3 still may be young, but its much more entertaining now.

Re: xmas spectacular age

We plan on taking her next year, when she's turning 4. I think she will have more stamina then for it to be a fun, special whole day out event (train ride, show, dinner, tree, etc.)

Thanks for the replies. Not sure if I'll take her her this year or maybe wait until next. She has a pretty good attention span. We've taken her to see some children's musicals at a couple of playhouses and it's always held her attention.

Re: xmas spectacular age

I went with a 2 & 3.5 year old.
Although they had effects (3d glasses, snow, etc), and my kids both are great at the circus, sports events & such... It isn't really age appropriate at 3.
I would guess a better age would be 7 or 8. The seats are hard to see out of (if you do go, see if you can get a booster seat from the theater before the show). We did have great seats (front orchestra), as we did the preview show.
