X Post Inexpensive in Hershey
LINK
I am looking to go to Hershey Park on June 28-June 30. I can't afford to stay in one of Hersheys Hotels but I did see a Howard Johnsons in Harrisburg which is not too far from Hershey. It looks like it got good ratings and it is only $79.00 per night.Has anyone stayed here or know of any place in that price range maybe a little more. We stayed at one of Marriott Hotels last time we went but it is too expensive. I also need inexpensive places to eat. If anyone has anything inexpensive in hotels and food please let me know. I already have 1 day passes to the Park so I do not need them. Has anyone been to Zooamerica. I would also like to go there.TIA

when we've gone to hershey weve stayed at the super 8 which i think is right down the road from the HOJO's. Its cheap, clean, comfortable.
theres a Bob Evans and Applebees not far from there so those are decent priced places to eat. the hotel i believe has continental breakfast...i dont remember..its been a while.
we also did Indian Echo caverns while we were there, mini golfed, and even took the drive to Gettysburg. There are outlets there as well. so if you have a car, you can easily get to all these places as they're not that far from the hotel area. (gettysburg is the farthest...maybe an hour).

Re: X Post Inexpensive in Hershey
We stayed at Four Points in Harrisburg (its a Marriott property) via expedia for around $80 per night. This was last September. The hotel was very nice and close to the park.
We walked around the Hershey Hotel, and I didn't think it was anything great for the price. So personally I don't think you are missing anything.
The dining options were pretty limited, imo. We went to Bob Evans several times more out of necessity than anything. Although it IS a great value and I loved the kids menu -- lots of healthy choices.
Zooamerica was just okay -- it's all "North American" animals, I think, so nothing exotic. I thought it was pretty similar to the Queens Zoo at Flushing Meadow.
We did love the antique car museum and so did DS -- you might want to check that out.
