WWYD....stomach bug related?
I want to preface this by saying I am a total germaphobe.
DD has dance class tomorrow night with her BFF, who just got over the stomach virus. These two girls LOVE each other and they get very close when they see each other. Hugs, kisses, they have "staring contests" nose-to-nose. DD is 4, so I know that even if I explain to her that she needs to keep her distance, it's just not gonna happen. And I can't stop them because they will be in a lesson.
I've read that the stomach virus can be contagious for up to 2 weeks after you get sick.
I'm considering keeping her home from dance. WWYD....would you send her anyway?

Re: WWYD....stomach bug related?
Well my 1yr old dd, myslef and my dh had the stomach virus this weekend. It was so horrible. Miserable. Sickest I have ever been. Thank god dd didn't get it as bad a s me. She only threw up 3 times and didn't have a fever. Dh and I puked around 10 times and had like a 102 fever
So if it were up to me I would do anything possible to NOT get this virus. It is no joke. One dance class one mean anything

Re: WWYD....stomach bug related?
I'm terrified of the stomach virus too. We had it last year. DD has already missed 3 classes. That's the only reason I am even considering sending her.

I can't believe how many other people are as phobic about the stomach bug as I am! I would definitely skip the class. If she gets sick, you will regret sending her I think.

Re: WWYD....stomach bug related?
The stomach bug actually sent my 5 yr old DS to the emergency room last year with dehydration. I know sometimes bugs go around at school and such, but you can't do much about that. The dance class, on the other hand, can be avoided.

Re: WWYD....stomach bug related?
I texted the mom to let her know we're not going. I was honest with her. I thought maybe she might opt out since her DD was just sick. But she's going. Oh well. DD will have to miss. I don't need that sh!t in my house!

Re: WWYD....stomach bug related?
SO glad I am not the only paranoid one! I think two days after all symptoms have gone is fine though. Two weeks sounds a bit long but hey, WHY chance it!

You are contagious for up to 10 days after the first symptom.. That is how DS got it last year.. We visited our Aunt in NH and her room mate had it a week before we got there.. It can live on an item for up to 2 weeks... He was touching stuff in her room and within 24 hours, he was sick as a dog. We all got it within 48 hours.. Not something I want to deal with for a long time. He ended up in the ER!!!
