So I have been going to Hayato for years….last May I decided to go to New Mode because I just had a baby and didn’t want to travel far to get it done. Well, I wasn’t really happy with New Mode. She worked on a few people at a time and she fried like 2 spots of my hair.

Anyway, I am due to get it done again and I called up Hayato. Hayato needs to know which straightener that New Mode used because they said that mixing solutions is not good. I then called New Mode to find out and they use the same one (Liscio sp?) but they also use others-it all depends on what type of hair that you have. I asked them if they had a file on their clients as to which type of solution they used and they said no, that if I had to know which solution was used I would have to come in so they can physically see my hair to know which they used. Hayato also said that if I had some damage they would have to see my hair to make sure the damage isn’t too bad, which would warrant a trip to the city for that.

So basically I would have to make a trip to Bethpage for them to see what kind of solution they used and then make a trip to the city for them to give me another consult. It’s a lot of time which is difficult for me since I have 2 kids. I need to get it done (I hate curly hair) but Im not sure if I should try New Mode out again or just take the time to see if Hayato will do it again. I never ever had a problem with Hayato. They are great there.

What would you do?

I know its a pain in the *** but I would make sure you get all the info and go back to Hayato. I wouldnt risk getting my hair done in New Mode and they burning it more.

Ugh how annoying! I agree with the PP; this one time, I would make the trip to Bethpage and deal with the hassle (although I really don't understand how them seeing your hair would help but I'm not a hair stylist) and then go back to Hayato.

thanks for the post since i am in exactly the same boat. I have a 8m old and went to new mode and she fried my hair and I'm considering going back to hayato who did my hair for 5 years but the price had more than doubled. let us know how it worked out
