So my 4 1/2 month old is a catnapper, like 20 minutes here and there, cannot fall asleep on her own...Needs either car/paci/boob etc.. You get the idea.
When my older one naps, I nurse her and she falls asleep and we lay on the couch for 1 1/2 - 2 hrs and she gets in one good nap/day this way...
She is too young to CIO although I need to do this soon b/c right now nursing is the only way she goes to sleep at night...
I hate that we have gotten into this habit/routine but so far it's the only way she sleeps for more than 20 minutes, HELP!

Don't laugh, but, what worked for me was the carriage. If DS fell asleep during our walk, I'd keep him in the carriage until he woke up..Yes, I wheeled the carriage straight into the house and left him in the foyer (in eyesight from the den)..sometimes, this trick even worked at 1AM..I'd just rock him in his carriage until he fell asleep.
I go with "Whatever works" is what you should stick with.

DD is about the same age and sometimes I have to put her in the swing. It usually works for me. I know she will eventually grow out of it, but right now I gotta do what I gotta do.

Joey napped in the swing and ONLY in the swing until he was 8 months old.

dd is the same way. She naps in her swing though and sometimes i'll nurse her but if she wakes up in her crib I'll let her cry no longer than 10 minutes. It never usually takes this long. I feel bad letting her cry but I know it's just because she is tired. I feel that I'm doing whats best for dd. When she wakes up she's all smiles.

My son will nap only 20 minutes, but frequently (even in the swing). He is 4 months old.

Yes, she will nap in the swing or bouncy but also for only a short time...
When we are out and about she sometimes will take a longer nap but it's so hit or miss...
She sleeps on her belly and I have let her cry in the crib for a few minutes but I feel terrible b/c the mattress gets wet and it looks like she's swimming!
I guess I will just take it day by day and hope that when she gets more active she will nap longer in her crib!

I often have to take DS for a walk or drive in the afternoon to get him to nap, occasionally he falls asleep without this, but usually he needs the movement. In the morning, he'll nap for about an hour on his own.
At night, we usually put on classical music, or his crib aquarium. He loves both before he goes to sleep, and these things usually soothe him. If he's really restless, he listens to his white noise machine. We rarely feed him right before bed, the last bottle is usually an hour before.

I wish I could just put her in her crib and go! She will not fall asleep on her own, that is the problem
and with a 2 year old it's even harder b/c I have to give her dinner and bath and put her to bed first...
