WWYD? in situation like this

Ok i know this may come off bad but i just want to start of saying i am appreciative of what every is doing for me but...

When I got pregnant first thing i said was i wanted a low key shower at my house. My mom is living off a pension due to medical reason and my MIL has no money really considering where she is living we put down the down payment and all and had to help paying her bills cuz she was unemployed. She is now employed but still things are tight and that is fine. SO we are having the shower at the house and my MIL is in charge of the food now im only having like 18 people that confirmed yes. SHe is making 5 trays of food and one of the items is 7-8 lbs of beef stew meat. alone with 11lbs of sweet italian sausage (does this give you an idea of how much food we are talking here) I didnt want this and now DH says for me to place order with Peapod and his dad will give us the money back. Is it wrong for me to be annoyed like this. I wanted something small and casual because i know finances are tight. Thanks for letting me vent.

I don't think you should be upset that your MIL wants to cook you a nice dinner. It is a celebration. If her financial situation is poor, I also wouldn't hold it against her if your DH wants to pick up the tab.

I dont know i guess i see it different because im out of work early and things are tight for us as it is. Just rude to be expected to do so. DH didnt offer to do this.
