WWYD?? About when to tell work your pregnant

I am only about 6 weeks pregnant. I have a work trip away in about 6 weeks , and have to book airline tickets in the next 2 weeks is the deadline.

I will not be flying b/c high risk, and on lovenox.

When should I tell them assuming I have to give them a Dr's note to let them know why I am not booking a flight in the next two weeks. ( Even if I wait till the deadline to book an airline ticket that will be 8 weeks)

Or do I just book a flight, not tell them I'm pregant & then wait until a week or two before the trip and tell them my Dr wants me to cancel? ( then I would be about 11-12 weeks pregant) 13 weeks during the trip.

WWYD????? I am just nervous abut telling them so soon, but worried they will lose money on the airline ticket too.

How is your office? If you tell just the necessary people will everyone find out?

If they will respect your privacy I would just tell them now

Is there someone in charge of this trip that you can confide in? Like if you tell this person but tell them that you aren't ready to tell anyone yet?

I agree with Tilde, I will just tell the people who needs to know now so that you don't have to book the flight. If anyone else ask, you can just tell them you have a flying phobia.

It's not an office environment, so I never see co-workers (rarely). The only one who would know is my Manager & Director. The rest would find out at the meeting, which would be fine.

I guess my biggest concern is telling them too soon before I am safely out of the 1st trimester.

ITA with this.

I would tell your boss and avoid buying the ticket and canceling at the last minute. That might cost your company unnecessary money.

I would only tell your manager and he doesn't even have to tell the others at the meeting.

ITA. I'd ask your manager if he/she could keep the reason you can't go confidential.

Thank you Girls!! I think that is what I will do, just let my manager know.

Maybe my Dr could even just write a vague letter, explaining at this point "I am treating my patient with Lovenox and would prefer them not to fly at this time".

Then they wont neccesarily know it's b/c I am pregnant that I am taking Lovenox, You think that would be OK?

I think this is a great idea. It gets you off the hook without having to tell them you're pregnant. Thats what I would do.

I agree. Tell your manager and ask him to keep it confidential. There is no reason for him to tell everyone what is going on. He can just say you were ill and couldn't make it.
