WWYD - Switching rooms temporarily
We are going to have to move from upstairs to downstairs soon to start our dormer.
The set up downstair is that there is a large empty dining room at the entrance of the house (to the right of the front door basically). We also have a small bedroom downstairs that we use as Ryan's playroom/den - it's where the TV is set up downstairs. It's also next door to the first floor bathroom.
So, we need to figure out where to put Ryan, and us.
If we put Ryan in the den, do you think he'll be confused and have trouble sleeping since it's where he plays now? Another downside to putting him in there, is that we won't have a TV anymore to watch at night (no cable hook up in the DR and there is a flat screen on the wall in the den). Also, I'm not sure if being next to the bathroom will disturb him since we take our showers at night but he's currently next door to a bathroom upstairs and it's not usually an issue so I don't worry too much about that.
The other option is to put him in the DR and set up a sheet or screen so he can't see the rest of the house at night - that way we have a TV and free to roam the rooms we're normally in when he sleeps. BUT, that would mean I would spend the 8th and 9th month of my pregnancy on a pull out instead of my lovely tempurpedic.
Another option is to put all our beds in the DR and set up a screen for him - that way we can still watch TV at night and then just retire to bed when we need to.
No matter what, we have to also factor in that may show up while we're all living downstairs - so if we do all bunk together, there could be 4 of us living in the dining room.
Any thoughts/suggestions/ hugs because this is annoying ?

I think I would try the all of you sleeping in the dining room plan, and as a plan B move him into the den if it isn't working out.
I'll give you too.

Re: WWYD - Switching rooms temporarily
i agree with the PP - have all of you in the dining room and if you need to move him into the den you can.
DH and i have been sharing a studio apartment with DS for a month now. that means ONE long room with a tiny bathroom! DS is at the far end of the apartment - furthest from the front door - in his crib, with two chinese folding screens in front of his crib so he can't see us.
we use the AC as white noise and we have a small but loud fan we use if we need more white noise.
DH and i wash dishes, watch TV, and talk with DS sleeping close by all the time. as much as i chide DH, DS has never woken up!
good luck - i think you'll be fine

Re: WWYD - Switching rooms temporarily
I agree with pp's put everyone in one room. That's how we sleep in our house. We only have ac in the master bedroom so we have ds's bed in our room with us. He is 18 months and he didn't seem to mind the move from his old room. Not sure how he will react when he moves back to his own room but that is for another day. For now everyone sleeps and is happy
