WWYD - Sleeping Question

Dd is 6.5 mos old. I try to make her bedtime be around 8pm. She gets woken at 7am every morning. Yesterday she had a 530pm appt so on the car ride home she slept about 30m from 630-7. At 8 she didn't seem tired at all. So I didn't force it and let her play.

Today when we got home at 6 I gave her a bath and after she was a bit fussy. I knew she needed to eat at 7 so I started feeding her a bit early and she passes out. I laid her down at 7pm and she's still sleeping.

So my questions are; should I have woken her and kept her up till 8pm? Yesterday should I have tried to force the 8pm bedtime? Is it okay to be flexible?

She usually takes 2 naps a day but sometimes when I pick her up after work she passes out in the car. Almost like sometimes she needs a third nap, but it comes around bedtime. Not sure what the right thing to do is.

Murphy's Law says that when you have a set routine, it will always fail. I think you NEED to be flexible and it's totally ok Chat Icon

I would probably have done the same exact thing as you. Just make sure she doesn't get used to the "new" routine and do it every night.

DD's bedtime is around 8 too. If she is tired earlier, she gets put to bed. She generally sleeps til the same time no matter what time she goes to bed.

Re: WWYD - Sleeping Question

Flexibility is the key to success! My DS is 6 years old. His bedtime is 8:00-8:30. He fell asleep before dinner last night around 6:45pm last night. We et him sleep. He woke up hungry at 10:30pm. We made him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He ate and went back to bed for the night.
