WWYD - IUI Failure

I'm really upset. IUI was two weeks on Friday an i'm pretty sure AF started yesterday. It's light today but clotting so i'm pretty sure that means there's no chance of me being pg. I was supposed to go in for the test but didn't want to spend the money only to have them tell me what i already know. I did PIAS but got invalid results but in my heart i know it doesn't make a difference.

I know i should have called the dr today but i was just so upset and crying. As i'm sure is the same with others, i'm devastated even though i know its not always going to happen on the first try.

We were supposed to go straight to IVF but we're going away on Tues to the following Monday (my bday and an unhappy one at that) i don't even think it would be possible. Since i have PCOS i don't know whether or not i'd actually O on my own and I thought maybe we would give IUI a second shot but i don't think the doctor will call in a script without seeing me.

Any ideas?

Re: WWYD - IUI Failure

Definitely go see your doctor, explain that you are going away on Tuesday and see if you can get in on Monday before you leave.

You'll be able to meet with him/her and talk about your plan of action. I think knowing that you have plan will make you feel better when you are away as opposed to not knowing what is going on.

Re: WWYD - IUI Failure

I know i should have just kept the appointment on Sat but it was only for bloodwork and not to see the dr. I really didn't want to hear them say, sorry it didn't take :(

I hate to make excuses but the problem is that since we are leaving immediately after work on Tuesday, i can't go in to see them. I can't afford to take time off when i'm going on vacation. Plus on tuesday i need to make sure i'm at work early so i can leave when i need to for my flight.

I know this is something extremely important but i just don't want to get in trouble at work.

Why don't you shoot your MD an email?

As for the following cycle...why don't you take this cycle off? (Not from work, but from IF tx.)

I am so sorry it didn't work out for you this time Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

If you are on progesterone you will need to get a bloodtest before you stop taking it just in case.

I agree however that taking this cycle off may be good for you Chat Icon

Re: WWYD - IUI Failure

Thanks again everyone. It's nice to have some support since the only ones that know about any of this is my parents and DH. I don't really want to tell any of my friends what we are going through in case it doesn't work. I've mentioned us trying but no more than that.

I'm on metformin and i really hope it starts kicking in soon. The doctor only increased my dosage two months ago and i had to decrease again because i was getting really sick after taking a week off for the HSG. The only time i've been on progesterone is for a few days to start my period.

I guess that since this is the first real try i'm taking it much harder than I should. I'm just so scared with failure since insurance only covers so much and after this all we can really do is one IVF cycle. I was thinking about not taking anything and buying the kit to see if I do O since i'll get back CD10.

Re: WWYD - IUI Failure

I'm so sorry your IUI didn't work. I remember when my 1st one didn't work----I pretty much sobbed the entire day. Hang in there...things will get better.

Talk to your dr and see if you can schedule an appt for an IVF consult. I know my dr made us do a bunch of tasks before we could move to IVF and it took a cycle or two to get everything done.
