WR: Inviting People Who Already Said They Couldn't Come

A friend of mine asked me this question and I'm torn - so I'll ask all of you for your opinions.

She's getting married this summer and sent out STDs. Two people said when they got the STD that they couldn't come. Should she still send an invite or does that look like she's fishing for a gift?

I'd still send the invite. Maybe things will change.

I would still send a formal invitation. I do not think it is looking for a gift. It is an announcement of their marriage

I would still send an invite to everyone who I originally intended to invite. Then again, I didn't do STDs, so I might be wrong.

I'd send it with a little note saying something like "I know you said you had plans already, but in case they fall through we'd still love to see you!"

I agree.

I don't think it looks like she's fishing for gifts but I think it is a little rude to imply an invite by sending a STD and not follow through with one.

I did the same thing. One of them was able to make it.

I would send an invite....if you send a save the date, then you are implying an invite will follow. I dont think it is fishing for a gift....

I would still send an invite. Their plans may change, it just seems polite.
