Phone call leads police to deadly discovery in Kings Park home
(09/13/06) KINGS PARK - A phone call led police to an unsettling discovery in Kings Park Wednesday.
Police say 78-year-old Martin Zuckerman called them Wednesday to say his wife was dead and he was going to kill himself. When officers got to the house they found Martin with a gun shot wound lying in bed next to his dead wife, 75-year-old Edith Zuckerman. Martin was taken to Saint Catherine's Hospital were he was pronounced dead.
The suicide note, providing instructions on who to call, was only signed by Martin Zuckerman. It is unclear if Edith shot herself or if her husband was the only shooter. Police say the note contained a reason as to why the shootings occurred, but will not release that information. They did, however, describe the couple’s last years as troubled.
