Would you vote for a Mormon?
I saw this on the news the other day.
The news lady stopped people on the street and asked. Would you vote for a Mormon as your next President and I was surprised that most people said NO....

Re: Would you vote for a Mormon?
i don't think it matters unless part of the candidate's platform is to try and change laws BECAUSE they don't fit with their religion.

I agree...I would hope that the candidate would do things that are best for the country, not what is best for their own lives.

Scary. This happens all the time in very subtle underhanded ways.

OMG - when I looked at the subject quickly, I thought it said, "Would you vote for a Moron?"

Re: Would you vote for a Mormon?
i voted for not sure....
i don't vote based on religion, except when major religious issues to me such as abortion or justice for the poor and children are severely compromised by a certain candidate.
Needless to say, for this upcoming election, right now, i think they're all terrible.

Re: Would you vote for a Mormon?
I would be concerned if their religion is a big focus for them - I am wary about anyone who would let religion get in the way of important decisions (like stem cell research, for example....)

Re: Would you vote for a Mormon?
Im willing to bet that quite a few political candidates were not elected due to religion.

i think it's an issue because some candidates and political figures, as was pointed out above, allow their religion to influence their decisions, which might not be in the best interests of "the people" as a whole.

Re: Would you vote for a Mormon?
depends..... if it's a candidate who happens to be mormon, sure, why not?
if it's a guy who's running on his 'religious values' and keeps saying his religion will guide all his decisions.... NO
but then again, I wouldn't vote for guy #2 if he was catholic, protestant, jewish..... I don't want any religion to have so much influence over secular society....

I don't really care for Mitt Romney, but if I liked him it wouldn't be an issue.
