Would you use daycare at a gym?

I am joining a gym FINALLY.. and there is free/inexpensive child care.. but my DD is only 16 months and I am a bit anxious about leaving her alone in child care at the gym. I would not be able to see her while I am working out and I just dont know how attentive the sitters at the gym are.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Yes I've been taking dd since she was 3 months and she 15 months now.

I do. We go to lifetime. There babysitting is great

I go to NYSC and use the babysitting 3-6 times a week. It's more then fine for an hour or so. I see newborns there all the time. I would say the average age is 18 months.

This is one of the reasons I'm on the fence about joining the gym by me, that also offers childcare. One of the women by me who goes posted that she has seen 2 girls taking care of 20 children at one point. My ILs watch 4 toddlers durning the week, and often there is a 3rd adult and I know how overwhelming it can be.

I did on LI. We used Retro Fitness in Deer Park and never had any issues. It was great and the kids both loved it (dd1 was 3, dd2 was 8 months or so).

I miss going to the gym, there aren't any places around me that are affordable AND do a monthly daycare plan like Retro did.

I guess i would now that she's old enough to tell me what's going on but not when she was younger.

yes I have! At my gym there is usually only 1 or 2 other kids in there and they also have video hooked up to the machines so I can keep an eye on him to see how he's doing

I started when they were 1 & 2. I would try to pick times when it was less crowded. I would see 1-5 kids max.

The teacher in the daycare told me right away what days it was craziest/hours. During the classes they are the most crowded. So I dont go to the classes.


But I prefer lately going at night once DH gets home. I feel like the gym is "me time". I would get there, worry if they were ok, get called 15 minutes in because someone had a dirty diaper. Go and walk by to make sure they were still ok. Feel like I should cut the workout short because they probably want to go home now.

Although my daughter keeps asking to go back to my gym. So obviously she liked it.

Yes I did starting when DS was 8 months. I would warm up And check on him and then if inswitched machines id walk past to make sure be was fine.

It was the only way I could get time to exercise.

I just started taking the twins in sept (they tured 2 in July). I only bring them one day a week for an hour, sometimes 2 hours, but i check in on them a few times.

DS is 10 months and i just cant bring myself too - i think it would be okay, i wish i could get myself to do it!! too anxious about it
