Would you let your oldest DC pick a name?

We keep running the 3 names we have past our oldest...who is only 2 1/2 mind you....

she was stuck on one name for a few days, and now she's stuck on another.

Do we let her pick it out?
Or should we leave it with 3, and wait till Chat Icon #2 is born?

Re: Would you let your oldest DC pick a name?

oooh, good question. How about waiting till Chat Icon is born, and when your daughter sees her for the first time, ask her what the baby's name is. See what she says.

If that doesn't work...the worst is that you'll have to decide in the hospital.

OMG there was a contestant on a TV game show a few years ago whose parents let his sister choose his middle name, his name was Max Trotter something or other (the Trotter bit was chosen from a 70's TV show...its the equivelent of calling your son John Starsky and Hutch)

I say let her choose!!!

My neice is 4 1/2 and she came up with her sister's name (Leah) bc she loves John and Kate plus 8. So cute.

I love th eidea of letting your little one choose- it's a family decision.

LOL, my niece picked out her sister's name. She was only 2, but started calling the baby "baby Emma". No one was really sure where she got it from, but it ended up sticking. It was pretty funnyChat Icon

I wouldn't because he was 20 months old at the time.

I have a friend who's 4 siblings voted on the name of the last. His name is Luke, after Luke Skywalker.

Re: Would you let your oldest DC pick a name?

I know someone who did that. When she was preggo with #2 her DD who was about 3/4 kept saying that she was having a little brother named Gregory. When they discovered it was a boy, they named him Gregory.

Re: Would you let your oldest DC pick a name?

DD#1 wanted us to name the baby Chrystal (we said NO!) She is 7. She was so mad and did not like the name we picked. Peyton! Now that Peyton is here she loves it and would not have it any other way.

Re: Would you let your oldest DC pick a name?

My parents were having trouble deciding on a boys name. When I was a kid I was obsessed with The Brady Bunch. I suggested the name Bobby after Bobby Brady.
They loved the name choice. My brother was born Robert (nickname Bobby) a few months later.Chat Icon

Re: Would you let your oldest DC pick a name?

My cousin who was 4 at the time (now 17) chose his brother's name.... He wanted to name him Billy after a Power Ranger. So my aunt/uncle called him William and we call him Billy for short.

Re: Would you let your oldest DC pick a name?

I think it's a cute idea. I think wait until the baby is born and ask her what the baby's name is......then go with it.

I on the other hand can't have DS pick out his brothers name b/c whenever you ask him what he wants to name his baby brother he says SISTERChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
